Horticultural Curiosity

Asparagus is not that fern ?

-This post started with curiosity "is Asparagus fern?". So It's doesn't talk about depth but most of fern stories will upload with other contents.

Hey folks how are you. Today I brought a little bit interesting thing today.

It is 'have you knew that asparagus is not actual fern?'

Yeah, Asparagus ferns are not actually fern! They sharing name, but It's not fern as likely even they are not edible, as well. Don't try to eat them! They are not cooking Asparagus.

Asparagus aethiopicus

Then what is fern ? Firstly, as this is Hort.curiosity based posting, I wouldn't talk about depth.

Fern can be described with vascular, megaphyll, and spore. If you find flower, fruit and seed, it's not any fern.

and also Fern comprised with distinct part : root, stems, and leaves.

Maybe the best thing can identify fern is Spore, especially if you don't know difference between megaphyll and microphyll. There are many plants are (actually most of plant on earth) vascular plants, they do not reproducing with spore. only Fern and lycophytes(Fern allies) reproduce by spore.
